Privacy Policy
OurHouse / Knoyle Technologies want to make sure we are upfront about what and any data we collect. OurHouse / Knoyle Technologies (Referred to as “We”, “Us”, “Our” in this statement) Will only collect data that we need to provide you with our services.
Data we collect
Personally identifiable data:
- To use the OurHouse website or app, you must have an account. To create an account, we need a valid email address, your first and last name and a password. This information is collected and used to provide you with our core services and manage your account.
- To use the OurHouse app to its full potential, you will need to create or join a house. The information we require to create a house, is just a name. Other information you can provide is a sub-name / description and should you choose to provide it, a photo of your house
- Calendar- to use the calendar functions, you provide the relevant data you wish to provide us. Information we require is a title, start date and end date.
- Parcels- to use the parcel functions, you provide the relevant data you wish to provide us. Information we require, is a title and due date. All other information is optional and only helps your housemates know about your parcel. If you have advanced tracking enabled, we require the tracking reference and possibly the courier from you, if you would like to use our tracking features.
- Announcements- to use announcements (aka Blasts) you provide the relevant data you wish to provide when creating a new announcement. The information we require is your message and any other data is not required but optional.
- Wifi- to use the wifi sharing function in the OurHouse app you will need to provide your house’s wifi information. The data we require is the SSID and if you have a password, the password will be required.
- Presence detection - If you have presence detection enabled for your house and wish to enable it for yourself, we will collect your device’s local IP address for your LightHouse node to check your status. Once enabled we hold your last detection time stamp, your local IP, and your presence status.
Non-identifiable data:
- We may collect the public IP address of the device that requests data from our servers. This is for the protection of your as we may use it to prevent more requests, to protect from cyber attacks such as brute-force attacks. We may also use this data to prevent misuse of our services.
Data Processing and storing
- Data shared between you and other OurHouse users (aka “Housemates”)
- Your name and profile photo
- Your presence status - is only available if you have presence detection turned on yourself.
- Any Parcels you create and any information you provide about the parcel
- Any calendar events you create and any information you provide about the event
- Any announcements you create and send, and any other information you provide in the announcement.
- Data sent between your device and our servers is secured with the latest industry standards in encryption.
- Your data is securely stored on our servers and is only accessible to yourself and our support staff.
- We ensure we will act responsibly with your data.
- We will never, ever, sell your data.
- Your account, house information and all other data points mentioned above are stored on our Servers hosted by our trusted 3rd party, Krystal, who we rent the servers from.
- If you email us or contact our support via our Helpdesk system, your communications are held on that system and are managed by us. At that point, if we need to we will access the relevant data to investigate and may make changes accordingly.
- If we do access your data at any time we will never share it with any 3rd parties without your knowledge or notification.
- LightHouse
- LightHouse is our product that allows you to link local devices from your house to our cloud and app, and also provides Presence Detection.
- On setup of your LightHouse node, we will take a copy of your public IP address purely for the ability to lock your node to you. We will not use it for any other purpose.
- If you then enable Presence detection, your and your housemates’ local IPs and user IDs will be sent to your node. This is how we can provide presence detection. Your node will check with our servers at a specified interval and refresh this data.
- A copy of this data is also stored locally on your node.
- If you disable presence detection, your data will be removed from your node on the next refresh and our servers.
3rd Parties
We will be upfront about any data we pass to 3rd parties. We will never pass your data to 3rd parties without your knowledge or without notifying you.
- Current 3rd Parties
- PARCEL TRACKING SERVICE - we use this service to provide you with live tracking for your parcels. We only pass your tracking code to this service. Your user data is never passed at any time.
- Microsoft 365 - we use Microsoft 365 to send email communications to you.
Your rights to your data
Deleting your account
- Should you wish to close your account, you can do so at any time, either by the in-app button, through the web My Account portal, or by contacting our support team. If you use one of the self-serve options, this will submit a request to our support who will review your request and will process your request within of 14 days receiving your request.
- If you created any houses, these houses will be deleted. If you don’t want the house to be deleted, you must contact our support and ask for the owner to be changed to another member.
- If you are a member of any houses, you will be removed and any calendar events, announcements, parcels, and presence data will also be deleted.
- If you request to delete your account, your account will be instantly disabled and you will no longer be able to sign in.
- You will receive email confirmation from us once we have deleted your account.
Get a copy of your data
- Should you wish to know what data we hold about you, you can request a copy of your data we have on our servers. Please contact our support either by email or via our support Helpdesk and request a “Subject Access Request”.
- We will process these requests within 14 days of receiving them.
- We may also charge a small fee for this request.

We reserve the right to update this policy at any time. Any changes, we will notify you by email.
